Chess Downloads Soon Available as .pdf Files.

Our future intention is to make our class and club handouts available as .pdf files, thereby holding down increased tuition costs for club and class enrollments.  .pdf files are four or five times larger than .doc files but have the advantage of not requiring special fonts installed to read them.  All C&O instructional handouts are copyrighted and intended for individual use.  Teachers, schools, clubs, and others are requested to consider making a donation to the C&O Family Chess Center if using these materials in an organized program.  Written authorization for limited educational use and reproduction rights is available from the center for a small fee.  Please contact the Program Director at Programs@chesscenter.net.   (05/04/10)

Chess Magnet School Makes Learning Fun and Easier:

Two links to the Chess Magnet School (CMS) allow us to make chess more accessible to all of our students and their families.  Check out the interactive way to learn chess by using the links on our home page or Students I & II pages.  Scholastic and Saturday Morning Chess Club (SMCC) students may sign up for inter-active intermediate and advanced instruction in our CMS classes by using our passwords (see  the Student I & II pages for the passwords).  Non members, family members, friends and others who wish to sign up should contact Coach Omar to see which class section to sign up in.  (05/04/10)

Center Seeks Volunteers and Paid Associates:

We are always looking for individuals who would be interested in a position as a volunteer aide for scholastic chess programs, mornings and afternoons.  Chess experience is NOT a requirement if you are willing to learn.  Teaching experience or other work with children is a definite plus.  Volunteers with training may become paid associates when class size warrants.   Our part-time pay scale is very generous.  If you are interested, e-mail us for an application or look under "memberships".
